1. Is it alright if I come by myself?
Yes, we have friendly staff at the parties who will welcome you at the door and introduce you to other people before the speed dating starts, if you wish. About 50% of party goers come by themselves.
2. What sort of people go?
It is mostly professional people from solicitors to secretaries. There are a wide variety of people from different professions.
3. Where are the parties held?
At the moment our parties are held in central London only, but we aim to expand out of London shortly. We use quality wine bars which we have exclusive use of and are easy to reach from the tube.
4. Will I get many matches in the speed dating?
This is when you and someone of the opposite sex have filled in our matching form and said you would like contact details exchanged (either email or phone number).
The number of matches depends on you and how selective you are to some extent and the choices of your selections. Party goers can get as many as eight downwards. It only needs one though.
5. What sort of music is played when there is a disco?
Everything from current pop music to 70's disco and everything in between. Our regular DJ is very good at assessing a crowd and will adapt to what most people want. You can request music you like as well.
6. I can't find any party dates I can make?
Our parties are all on Thursday or Fridays. We think these are more popular nights with people wanting to go out, than say a Monday. We are adding parties all the time, so keep checking our timetable of events. Please register with us for regular updates on new events!
7. Are there equal numbers of men and women?
On average we have equal numbers of men and women, however sometimes people cannot make it at the last minute because of illness or work commitments. It does not matter though if there are a few extra men or women. You may sometimes find women bookings are full before men. This is because most women tend to plan in advance and men leave it more to the last minute.
8. What should I wear?
The best guide is the same as you would were you going to a wine bar. Some people though will be in business suits from work, with other more casual from home.
9. Do I need to have an e-mail address and computer?
No, we can contact you via the telephone to pass on matches. You can pass on a phone number to matches if you wish. Not everyone has a home computer. We can also send you or a friend a list of events in the post if you wish. Just call or leave a message via our contact us section. Remember, you can also book over the phone or by post.
10. When will I receive my matches?
We aim to update you with your matches on the day after the party. So for a Friday event for example, we will process all the matches on the Saturday morning and e-mail you or telephone you in the afternoon. N.B. You may receive matches after this, because some people may not return their forms to us at the end of the party.
11. I live outside of London. Is it worth my while coming to a party in Central London?
Yes. Not all the people who come to our parties live or work in London. Quite a lot of people come from the Home Counties (e.g. Essex, Kent, Surrey, Hertfordshire, and Middlesex) or further for a fun night out speed dating with Musical Chairs. There will be a lot of people to meet.
12. I want to book and pay for a party by post. How do I do it?
Please go through stages 1 and 2 of the on-line booking process for the event of your choice. Do not proceed to payment. Print off the "Confirmation of Musical Chairs Booking" and enclose it with a cheque for the amount stated made payable to " Totally Bewitched Ltd ". Send this to Totally Bewitched Ltd, 5 Lower Grosvenor Place, London SW1W 0EJ. NB If you do not have access to a printer, just send your details as a covering letter.
